Predictions

Earlier this month the fuzzy little ground hog in Pennsylvania saw his shadow and proclaimed 6 more weeks of winter. For us northern New Yorkers we are confused, for we have not had any of what we would call real winter yet this season. So is our ground hog saying we will have 6 more weeks of this type of winter, which some years would pass for an early spring; or is he predicting that real winter with piles of snow and sub zero cold is on the way? Of course that would not be 6 more weeks of winter- because we have not had that winter yet. So just what is the ground hog predicting?

We have no such dilemma when it comes to God. Of any predictions about the future there is only one to be trusted and that is the Father in heaven. His track record is perfect and predictions are sure. When He says for the believing Christian at death “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” that is what will happen. When He says of His Son the Messiah Jesus, “of His Kingdom there will be no end” that prediction will be fulfilled. Any prediction of God found in the pages of His Word is going to be fulfilled in His time, count on it.

Often we face our world at a loss as to who to trust. I am sure that the predictions of ground hog regarding winter may be hard to believe, but the Predictions of God are hard to dismiss. No other can be trusted like God can!
